We are only gone a week
Not too bad .... 2 snowboard bags at about 30 pounds, and 2 suitcases. Dave followed Andy's advice and made sure he didn't have to carry it all Garmisch - Saturday
We are here! Checked in, unpacked, a few groceries and refreshments cooling in the mini-fridge, hotel explored ... And now we are sitting in the hotel bar having a nice, cool beer. We plan on having an early night tonight though so we can be ready to go bright and early in the morning.
All of the transportation went very well. Dave booked us for an empty row on the international flight, so we could stretch out and get some sleep. It is handy that Dave can sleep sitting up, because there was only room for one of us to stretch out. We landed in Amsterdam, and successfully followed the signs for our connection _ a little confusing for us because we did not expect to have to go through customs, but we had plenty of time, and the customs staff was friendly and helpful. This time we flew into the Munich airport, which we had never done before. We had a long layover waiting for our train there, so we spent a lot of time in the McDonalds. Very comfortable and we could sleep a little.

Airstream!!
A food truck modified to look like an airplane. How cute airport has like an outside courtyard between terminals ... And that is where we saw the Airstream Smokey Joe trailer. Dave says he hopes our airstream looks like that, and I think it would be pretty cool too.
Caught the train to the main Munich train station, where we changed and got on our train into Garmisch. We got lunch on the train station, and had a little language challenge. our intent was to get 2 wursts ... You know ... The yummy sausages in the awesome bread? So I go to the counter and order what I thought was that ... Not so fast. I go 1 bread with 2 wursts. being the fast thinker I am .. I figured it was easier to get 2 of those than to try and explain that I wanted 1 wurst in one bun times 2. No matter though, we were hungry and hey were doubly delicious. We were surprised that it was pretty warm in Munich - in fact considerably warmer in the dead of winter than it was during the spring last year when we were here - but it seemed to get considerably cooler as we
The final leg
Dave on the train to Garmisch made our way higher and towards Garmisch. Once we got here, it is still pretty warm and there is not a lot of snow. But it is still awesomely pretty.
We got a few pictures from the train of the mountains, the mountain stream, and the Zugspitze Ski resort,. The locals say the Zugspitze is the place to ski this winter .. But they haven't had much snow either. I asked if the fly fishing was good in the stream, and I have to tell you that the taxi driver's English was good,it didn't extend to fly fishing .... And my German is definitely not good enough to explain fly fishing. So,Dan, I have an incomplete report on the fishing ... but it looks like it would be good.
The hotel we are staying at is in a village not far from Garmisch called Grainau and it will be great for us. Nice room/apartment for us, a sauna and ski room, and a cozy little bar and restaurant. We went exploring before it got dark and found the grocery store, the bakery and the beer store - all within easy walking distance. Tomorrow we
will have to find the bus stop for the Zugspitz that we will take to go skiing.
Not sure we will ski every day, but there is plenty to do if we don't.
