Kamala Beach
This really is paradise, clear water for swimming and nice people about the place. I took motorcycle lessons just before leaving for this holiday so I was very nervous about driving a motorcycle around Phuket. My experience is that most people are very careful on the roads and if you drive at proper speeds and keep alert for dangerous situations you have a good chance of an incident free trip. I survived driving in crowded streets, the open road, flooded and muddied roads, up and down sidewalks and hills, pedestrians walking in front of me and a car door suddenly opening just as I was driving past. I still need a lot more practice with a motorcycle but happy that I took on the challenge.
The big advantage of driving a motorcycle is being able to access places difficult to by car and the freedom of not using taxis. We went to Kamala Beach which is a short drive north from Patong and well worth a visit for the clear swimming water and only a few people on the beach compared to the crowded Patong Beach. We also drove south towards Promthorpe Cape to Nai Harn Beach and across from Patong to Phuket Town.
I have been to Phuket before and find the
Kamala Beach
Sorry, only me :) no beach babes local Thai people to be very friendly. There are many good quality restaurants, large shopping malls and plenty of night time entertainment. The main attraction to me are the beaches and viewpoints which building development still has not totally spoilt.
