Well, I'm finally somewhere where I can relax a little bit. I miss China and my group a whole lot more than I thought I would. Something about China really grew on me and I know I'll be back for more time the next time around. Even though I've joked about just staying in my room and studying and not really going out while I'm here before, I think I may actually do just that. Clubs and bars are ridiculously expensive (even by US standards), and I am ready for some relaxing after Chile and China. I'm also going to try to stay on top of my schoolwork so that I can travel. I'm still taking Mandarin and I'm going to start taking Thai, which is great because I won't be entirely lost when I go to Bangkok and Phuket for my ten day break. I haven't really seen a whole lot of Singapore besides the University (which is really nice and hilly and green and clean). I did go over to the Asian Civilizations Museum on National Day, which was alright, and then to Chinatown, which was way overpriced and boring after being to the real thing. The food is
really good here, but since I have to eat six dinners and breakfasts a week with my dorm, I don't get to eat it a whole lot. Singapore, though it's a lot more clean and sanitary and good for your health, seems a lot less alive than China and Argentina and even Chile. Maybe I will like it more later- but right now it doesn't seem that interesting- so maybe I will just focus on school and travelling to the other, more colorful, areas of Southeast Asia.
