Hi, All –

It’s Monday night, Sept. 30th, and I’m writing this message for the next time we hit a WiFi connection.

Right now it’s around 8:30 PM, September 30th, and we’ll be spending the night parked at the bottom of the East Point Lighthouse on the very eastern tip of Prince Edward Island.

Because of Bob’s curiosity and internet explorations, tomorrow we’re heading off to a place we’d never heard of – Isles de la Madeleine, a string of islands about 100 from this lighthouse in the middle of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Tomorrow afternoon, after driving about a half hour from this lighthouse, we’ll catch the ferry for a five-hour trip to reach the main island of the Madeleine archipelago. If you want to look it up, it’s midway between the Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec, and Cape Breton Island, the northern tip of Nova Scotia.

In the meantime, I’m sending you some photos from the Schoodic portion of Arcadia National Park, which is about an hour’s drive from the main park. Also, there are some photos of the East Quoddy Lighthouse on Campobello Island. We were here 12 years ago, which I remember

clearly as I closed our car door on my thumb and the thumbnail turned blue right away and hurt like the dickens our whole trip. We were also here last year. The last photo in the East Quoddy Lighthouse series shows the tide in, several hours after the first photos of the lighthouse were taken.

(Actually, it’s now Oct. 3rd and we’re on the Isles de la Madeleine. Photos to come in a couple of days. WiFi is hard to come by but we’ve found a Tim Horton’s about 45 minutes from here with WiFi. As a teaser, this is the most picturesque place Bob and I have seen in our 13 years of travelling.)

Take care,

Paula

PS -- I'll add a little more information on these photos in the next blog. We're kind of in a hurry right now.

Thanks for the photos
Oct. 3 and I just got your message. Kind of neat knowing that you are writing and I just got it, makes it seem as though you are not that far away. Sounds like a wonderful trip. Today is Ashley's birthday and we are going to the Copper fish for dinner. An artist friend that I saw at LDDA dinner Tues night told me she had done a huge copper fish for the restaurant and that Ashley was very helpful in helping her find things for her sculpture. She grew up in our neighborhood and went to school with Melanie. That's all from Tampa. Love, Joan
