from the back porch...nice!!!
We all got up very early to see Craig and Deb off on their fabulous adventure. Craig got Deb's cold and is feeling like crapiola, so Freddie gave him a supply of decongestant. Freddie escorted Lizzie to the bus stop, then we had a leisurely morning...espresso with warm frothy milk while looking at Rome in the distance.....once the thick dense fog burned off!!! Doing laundry was a challenge...Deb had showed me how to use the washer and dryer....the settings on the machine are all in Italian so I really had to pay attention. The dryer, a.k.a. the big dehumidier, is really different....no external venting...there's the lint collector and a water collector.

As you all have seen, I worked on the blog too...sitting at the kitchen table tethered to the inverter that changes the local electricity from 220v to 110v. Finally figured out the easiest way to resize photos was to use Windows Media Gallery. Mid afternoon, we sat on the back porch, had a glass of wine and enjoyed the beautiful day...ahhhhhn

I made chicken parmesan for dinner...nobody gagged so I guess it was ok. Lizzie went to her friend's house after dinner to make chocolate chip cookies for a book club fund raiser. Quite a while later, when I looked at the kitchen clock and saw it was nearly 10 pm I asked Freddie..."do you think we should call over there and see what's up?". He did and all was fine and Lizzie came home apologizing for being gone so long. An hour later when we all went to bed I looked at my cell phone...it was 10 pm...what???? Come to find out, the kitchen clock is 90 minutes fast....boy did I feel like an idiot. No wonder we didn't have kids...we're completely inept and failed our first day of parenting 101. We apologized to Lizzie, she said no problem...what a good kid!!! I felt a little better when her friend told Freddie that last week she'd been visiting with Lizzie, looked at the kitchen clock and went running home because she thought she was late for dinner...glad I'm not alone!!!!

We're still trying to decide what to do this weekend...Pisa, Florence by train???

why is the clock 90 min fast? The view is beautiful. Wish I were younger. I would be traveling every chance I got.

The story behind the kitchen clock
The kitchen clock was there when we moved in. I thought it was kind of pretty so I just left it. I never even thought of setting the time. Romans are not slaves to the clock. When in Rome...
