We have cable down here, and we've been picking up a lot of baseball games from the US, so we have very high hopes we can watch the Vikings v Steelers game today! I, personally, have very high hopes that I can just stay in and relax all day 😊 I want a lazy day! Especially after yesterday-- Roger dragged me to 5! different music stores so he could buy a bass guitar. Okay - drag is a bit of an over exaggeration...I even encouraged him to keep looking until he found the bass he really loved but still! I did not think it would be an all-afternoon excursion.
We went to the big market again too, just to pick up a few ingredients for Ceviche. We bought fresh shrimp and spent awhile ripping off heads and legs (eww!! Roger had to do it all!) and cleaning them out (I helped with de-shelling and de-viening!) before letting it soak in lime juice over night. We actually just tried a little test bite and .... it was a mega fail. I'll include a picture. Looks relatively normal. Tastes like limey-chicken. Not okay. We think probably the shrimp just wasn't as fresh
as it should be. So now we know - avoid sea food at the markets!
Friday night we met up with a neighbor (Dan, originally from the DC area) and some of his friends (turns out they work for the school part of Casa Xelaju!) and went out to watch a live Latin Blues band. We actually just listened and chatted with Dan while they played. They sounded good though! After we met up with his friends, Christian (Chris-tee-on) and Claudia and went to the world's smallest dance club. The dance floor is incredibly tiny- Roger was in disbelief all the next day haha. It was fun though! Rog and I got to dance together, then some Guatemalteco with very pointy shoes on tried teaching me to dance. Of course, I have no sense of rhythm so it went horribly ha but it was all a fun time!
Well, I think I'm going to try and clean the apartment today and hopefully we'll be watching the game soon!
