Bong! Bong! Bong! Yes, all eight of them woke me up. It’s eight O’clock and time to get up. I look out the window and it’s foggy, so thick you can’t see across the street.
Hmmmm, driving is going be a challenge.
I shower and wake Drew as I head down stairs for breakfast. He groans and rolls over as I tell him not to be too long.
Drew shows up in 30 minutes, Hmmm much better than Lori’s first time. We finish breakfast and grab out stuff and out the door we go. It’s a slow trek over the Alps heavy fog all the way up and half the way down. Drew missed seeing all the beautiful valleys and peaks.
Once we’re over the sky opens as were heading toward Milano.
We arrive in Milano; Drew helps me navigate to the center of town. We park the car and we’re on foot toward the center. After multiple turns we round the corner and peaking over the rooftops is the Domo. Drew stops and just looks, he doesn’t say anything but I know he’s impressed and hasn’t even seen it in it’s total glory.
After
another couple of turns there it is Milano’s Domo. Yea, it’s on of the biggest and most beautiful baroque styles cathedrals’ ever built. As Drew says it feels like were standing on holy ground. Just think of the people who put their life into such an effort of love. They truly believed and trusted in God. We get a drink and sit down in the Piazza and just marvel at the cathedral. Once were done we walk through Milano other marvel the Galleria Vittorio Emanuel II. We decided this must have been the inspiration for the Millinia Mall. Yea!
We’re now ready to walk through the domo, we approach the doors and we have to have our backpack searched. It seems security is more than normal, not only do we see the Polizei but the military is very visible.
We enter and Drew stands in Ah! It’s even more beautiful inside than outside he says. Now, this is coming from a guy who really appreciates art and architecture. As we wind through the cathedral I point out the small chapels within the cathedral. Drew is amazed that there are chapels within cathedrals’. Do the Baptist do this in
their churches, Huh, I don’t think so.
Once were out were heading back toward the car. Within 15 minutes were on the autobahn and heading toward Pisa.
Four hours later and getting lost twice were in Pisa looking for a hotel. Drew see’s the Bed sign with lot’s of hotels listed. We find the AC hotel and its nice, clean and cheap. Even Hedy would approve this one.
We eat a light dinner and were off to bed. Tomorrow we’ll be busy exploring Tuscany starting with Pisa and heading toward Florence.
Did I mention it’s NOT raining!
