As soon as we got to Lelystad, we pulled right into the lift and were taken out of the water.
Where are we now?? We know it has been quite some time since our last blog entry, but we have been doing some traveling since the Channel Islands and haven’t had time to stop to get a blog entry written and posted. We have been definitely taking plenty of photos, seeing as much as we can, meeting lots of nice people and been in a few countries since we last wrote.

In many instances we were spending the days sailing from one port to another, staying overnight and then moving on the next day to get closer to our goal of the Netherlands. Other times we decided to stay a couple of nights to have a chance to see something in the area or to wait for a better weather window. We still had to watch the tide tables and to check the currents to be sure that it was going to be in our favor. If you don’t do this, you find yourself fighting against it without gaining much until the current does change direction. We many times would like to have started out earlier in the day, but with this additional factor some of our days became short

hops.

We have now been in quite a few ports in northern France, made a stop in Belgium and then made it to the Netherlands on August 14th. We entered the canal system the next day and started exploring. We will be sure to fill you in on the details, but we are currently now in Lelystad which is located on the Ijsselmeer, northeast of Amsterdam. Yes, we did treat ourselves to a few days in Amsterdam and even had a chance to catch up with some friends that we had been with in Trinidad – thanks Diana and Wil for such a great day of exploring the area! The reason we came here was to pull Tsamaya as Bob has some repairs to do which we needed to be out of the water for.

We will go back and fill in the details and try very hard to get this updated soon (and between projects). Just wanted to put up a quick note to let everyone know where we are these days. Hard to believe it is the end of August already – hope everyone’s summer has been going well. We will be in touch as soon

plans definitely change!
Bob - yes, the original plan was the Baltic but we realized when we were traveling up the coast of Spain that it was not realistic if we wanted to see things along the way . We slowed down to enjoy the travels instead as the Baltic will be there next year! We will be heading to London for the winter and then next season we hope the Baltic. Thanks for coming along on our travels!
