August 20, 2013 - Tuesday

Another beautiful morning in Utah. In the 50’s when we got up. Got ready and left for Park City for the day. A fun time with all the sights and then a little bit of time at the Tanger Outlet Mall. After a fun morning we headed to Ruby Tuesday’s for lunch. Well, we rolled on out of there after stuffing ourselves!

Back to the park and a little coffee and latte and then a nice walk around the park.

A relaxing day for us today, much needed.

August 21, 2013 - Wednesday

Up and head into Heber City to the Rail Road Station. Board the Union Pacific 1910 passenger car, kept in the mode of 1910, no heat, no a/c, wooden windows that open and h ave to be propped to stay open. The train will only go 14 mph, due to track conditions – curves, etc. It’s called the ‘Heber Creeper’. We head out at 11:00 and make our way through the Provo Canyon to Vivian Park. Pass the Deer Creek Reservoir and see a Bald Eagle sitting in a field; too quick to get a photo. Half way into the trip, the Engineer blows the whistle and stops at a Station – out come 3 Train Robbers wanting the money box on the train. After much hoopla and shouting at everyone, and having to ‘put ‘em up’, they find the money box and shoot off the lock. Inside? A rubber chicken. Well, back on board they come threatening everyone, but of course, all in fun and they settle down for the rest of the train ride. Now it seems the girl of the outfit is a wonderful singer and she sings some great Western songs as well as Jazz – her specialty - for us on the way home. *She also is pretty handy with a lariat, demonstrated when we disembarked.

At Vivian Park, a lovely park with a playground for the kids and a covered picnic area, we have our delicious box lunches – Roast beef and veggies on foccacia bread, sea salt chips, a huge chocolate chip cookie and a drink of our choice. Nice lunch. 15 minutes pass and the engineer blows the whistle 3 times to let us know to reboard. Off we go on the return trip and it’s just a beautiful trip, with mountains, streams, lakes, rivers, horses drinking off to the side, Osprey in their nests and through the tight Canyon walls. Arrived Heber again at 3 pm. What a wonderful day!

We saw a license plate on the way back to the campground, a Utah plate that said:

SNOHOHO, so perfect for this Park City Ski area.

Exciting times
I loved your description of the robbery, laughing at the idea of W and his glock landing a good one into one of the robbers! That would sure have put a halt to the merriment...
