Darwin, as always in the Dry, is a wonderful place to stay, with the constant beautiful sunny days which we never tire of. Work is still good for both of us and we are thankful that we have jobs but we are looking forward to hitting the road again as we miss the lifestyle. We are trying to make the most of our days off and have attended some great free events kindly put on by the Darwin City council such as watching and listening to the Darwin Brass Band at the water front where they played some fantastic classics such as “Georgia on My Mind” and “I dreamed a dream from time gone by” from Les Miserables. Another was the Darwin Symphony Orchestra along with the Beatnix, a band that are incredibly good impersonators of the Beatles. Together they played some brilliant old Beatle songs and had all the audience singing along in the amphitheatre at the Botanical Gardens.

Yesterday we visited Berry Springs and had a refreshing dip in the turquoise blue clear waters. A very popular spot with locals and tourists but to be avoided during the wet when salt water crocodiles roam around there!

Pete and most of our neighbours are very much into collecting cans and bottles on the roadsides here because the Northern Territory in a great effort to re-use and deter rubbish offer 10 cents back on them. It has turned into quite a competition to get as much back as possible each week with last week hitting $118.00! So far they have collected in excess of $500 and we have had many a sausage sizzle evening and even a Chinese takeaway meal each. Now when we go for a bike ride we come back laden with bottles and cans and must look such a sight. The guys all agree that when we all take off on our own separate ways it will be very difficult not to keep an eye out for rubbish and stop to pick it up as we drive past. NT certainly has litter problems but is not the worst state by far with, I would hazard a guess, at Queensland topping the list.

Nearly forgot to mention our day out at the Annual Darwin Cup where all us females wore "Fascinators" in our hair and glammed up for the event. It was so so hot and the wine and beer were for sale at ridiculously inflated prices but we still had a good time, that is until one of the female jockies was thrown from her horse just before the finishing line and fatally injured resulting in the final four races being cancelled.

Hi there, We didn't get to go there but we enjoyed Litchfield & Kakadu we are now on our way home today we reached Kimba in South Australia. Should start crossing the Nullabour tomorrow. Caught up with my Queensland Family and my Sister in Texas.We have traveled 12,000 klms so far Greetings to you both see you in Perth

Hi George and Delma Good to hear from you. Yes, it was a a pity that you didn't get to see Berry Springs as they are right next door to the Nature Park! Glad to hear you have had a great time on your travels. You certainly clocked up some miles. See you in November in Perth.
