After a decent night of sleep in our Chau Doc hotel we were picked up by a cyclo. (A man with a bike with a flat trailer on the back for one person and their bags) and were whisked through the streets to our fast boat to Cambodia.
The boat wasn't that fast I don't think.. We were on it for around 7 hours. At least one of those hours was spent at the two border controls we had to get thorough. One to get things stamped our of Vietnam and one to get things stamped into Cambodia. I have another whole page visa in my new passport so I am happy! Once we (finally) arrived in Phnom Penh (after much snooze and some eye rolling at all the loved up couples being gross) we found a tuk tuk and by found I mean we picked from the million available and headed to our hotel. We have decided to push the boat out a little an stay in a lovely 4* boutique hotel. Our room is in the weirdest location sort of behind reception and the lobby but its very nice and quiet. Our window looks our onto the pool. It's all a bit posh!! We have had a brief wander around the city and tried some Khmer food. It seems to have far more flavour than Vietnamese. It's been gorgeous sunshine all day but I had my shoulder ever so slightly outside the boat earlier and it's now about 3 shades darker than the rest of me. Oops! I like Cambodia so far but the poverty here is extreme. We keep getting approached by very small children. Usually an older sibling (maybe 6 or 7) with one or more younger siblings. Some have red bull with them, I guess it's so they can stay up late an take advantage of drunken westerners. I takes to a group of three of the littlest and then they wouldn't leave us alone. One even jumped on the back of our tuk tuk and then jumped off in the middle of the road. Very worrying! We are heading to the killing fields and s21 museum tomorrow. It's not going to be a happy day but its something we feel that we should do. I'm sure it will be pretty emotional For now I'm off to bed in my fancy hotel room. There are flowers on the pillows as they've been in and turned down the bed. I love how there is a certain point in the hotel chain where it's considered too much effort to fold back your covers do you can get in!! Na night all Kate and Eireann Myh

7 hour trip
Those boats rides always seem long. The poverty slaps you in the face but most of the people seemed happy.
