The Very Blue Dinghy is back in the water and, for one night only, has her very own dock-space. Everything is ready and a week's worth of food and drink is aboard.

By the time you read this, we will be at sea. More precisely, somewhere in Narragansett Bay. We will be mostly on a mooring or anchor for the next few nights. It might perhaps be as long as a week before we are again at a dock. So please do not worry if there are no new blogs for several days. We will need to catch WiFi when and where we can. And, when we are visiting a port, other things often take priority over uploading a blog. Things like having a beer, enjoying the scenery and generally doing as little as possible ... which we get progressively better at as the cruise proceeds ... :-)

In general, I plan not to write this blog "in advance", as this seems in some way to miss the point. But on this occasion, I will lay out our general plan for the next week or so.

When we leave here (East Greenwich), we plan to head across to Potter Cove on the far side of Prudence Island. Our GPS Machine tells us that today's voyage will be all of 8 nautical miles. No point overdoing it on our first day. We have sunshine and light winds.

Our plans after that are flexible, but will almost certainly include stops at Cuttyhunk, Quisset, Marion and Sandwich, all in Massachusetts and all except Marion on the Buzzards Bay side of Cape Cod.

You should be able to find all these places easily on Google Maps. Those of you with access to my "Pavane-2013" Google Map will find these ports and anchorages marked. I am also going to try attaching a "map photo" to this blog. There are fancier ways of linking maps to a blog but I plan to try these other, simpler (?) ways first.

Good weather is forecast for most of the coming week, which is very roughly how long it will take us to get to Sandwich Marina, at the far end of the Cape Cod Canal.

I may post future blogs in bursts, with several blogs being published in one day. As far as possible, I will try to keep things in simple chronological order and will try to record where we stay each night.
