We travelled to Denali from Fairbanks on Friday. On the way we stopped just outside of Fairbanks and could see Mt McKinley from there, pretty amazing considering it is 200 miles away. Stayed in the park no hookups or internet so no blogging.

On Saturday we took a shuttle bus into the park. No private vehicles are allowed past Mile 15 of the park and only authorized vehicles from there on. In September before the park closes there is a lottery that you can put your name in and for 1 week 400 vehicles can drive to the end of the road.

We had a great day and saw lots of wildlife: Moose, caribou, dall sheep, ptarmigan, foxes and a grizzly or brown bear and her two cubs and of course Mt. McKinley. It was spectacular!!!!

It is quite touristy outside the park with both sides of the road before the park entrance lined with hotels, restaurants, tour companies and shops.

From here we travel to Anchorage on Sunday where you can still see Mt. McKinley about 50 miles north!
