We are back on the road, this time heading north to cooler (we hope) climes.

We left home on Friday morning and had a fairly uneventful drive to Chattanooga. As you know, uneventful is, to us, a good thing. There was plenty of traffic, both cars and trucks on the interstates, but most drivers were minding their manners. The only smudge on our shiny day was the 50 minute pit stop in Manchester, where we stopped for gas and lunch. At the gas stop, we were blocked in while the driver that pulled in in front of us went inside to use the facilities. But that was okay, we weren’t in any hurry. At Mc-you-know-who’s we waited and waited while they chased down the cow (or whatever) for our burgers. I think the workers there were all honor students at McD’s college of slow fast food.

We pulled in to Chester Frost Park in Hixson, TN, and were set up by 4. We gave Sara a call to let her know we had arrived, then relaxed with cool and tasty beverages. Sara called back when she was on her way home and we met her

there. After admiring her garden and all the work Sara, Trevor, and Trevor’s parents have done on their yard, we went inside and gave Kingston, our grandkitty, some ear scratchings before heading out to eat Mexican food. We headed back to camp early as everyone was tired.

On Saturday we went and did a little grocery shopping for the night’s cookout. Don the Meat Man had 50/50 bacon burgers on his specials sign and we all decided that sounded great. We picked up some fresh corn on the cob and an apple pie to complete the meal. Sara and Trevor came and we sat outside and chatted for a while before deciding to go to their house to grill dinner. Someone was coming to grind out a stump from a tree they had cut, and someone needed to be there to pay the grinding crew.

They got there just after we did, so we had front row seats for the spectacle. It was good and noisy and we were amazed to see how quickly they managed to reduce the stump and surrounding roots to mulch and sawdust.

left and we sliced up tomatoes and a cucumber from Sara’s garden to go with. It was a meal fit for a king. Those bacon burgers were the best I have had. We were so stuffed we all passed on dessert.

It was a great visit, we just don’t get to see the two of them enough, and we have missed them.
