You don't get smarter when you get older. There's just less stupid stuff you haven't done" ~

Well if one has to turn one year older I'm glad I had the good sense to do it in Playa. Happy Independence day to my friends in the USA and well happy birthday tidings are going on here in Playa.

I FINALLY got a good sleep last night and woke in a cozy king sized bed feeling refreshed. I heard a knock at the door and there was Ava and Lara bringing me breakfast in bed of strawberries, bananas, grapes with yogurt. Al had a glass of Champagne & orange juice ready for me and I felt truly spoiled by the attention.

Afterwards I was given 3 home-made cards from Ava (does any mother ever get tired of getting home-made cards?) and Ava bought me an onyx elephant statue with her own money (well uncle Barry had given her US money when he was at our place in June so she put it aside for mom's birthday...I don't know if I should thank just Ava or Barry for the beautiful birthday gift!!) She also collected sand from the beach and put it in a rinsed out mini shampoo bottle! And I got sticky notes that have turtles on them. All my favorite animals were covered by Ava!(After I finished opening her gifts she whispered to me "I have no money now"...so I told her I'd give her some money because she did such a sweet thing for me!) And great gifts too; not bad for an 8 year old!)

Lara & Rory bought me beautiful silver earrings with turquoise which are turtles! Very beautiful. Lara and Rory also got me tropical nail polish and there's foot rub offers on the table! Al got me a funny Snoopy birthday card in Spanish with his comment "let's buy something you like today"...Awww.

After this lovely breakfast we headed to Plaza Les Americas which is a mall about 5 minutes from us by cab. It has Sears, Pier Imports, and a variety of stores within it just like at home but with a little extra oomph...When we left there was an outside cart set up selling churros; very similar to the beaver tail at home but a heck of a lot cheaper. Ava was in kid heaven eating those things.

On the way home I always do a double check and realized I could not find my debit card. I used it once to take cash out at a ATM at Wal Mart. So that threw a wrench into things as I never lose my stuff and then it delayed the family treating me to lunch. We walked back to Walmart to ask of someone had turned in my card but I knew I had taken it from the machine because I remember putting it away in my wallet. Dang. But we looked high and low and I could not find it for love or money. It's frustrating to be out of country and this happens so I had to call my bank and cancel my card. I was on hold for 25 minutes today; happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, you misplaced your debit card and now there's a fee 😊

I tried not to let it get the best of me, so we met the gang at the restaurant we were at yesterday, but up on their Roof Club. You take an elevator 3 stories up and OMG...you walk out and there's panoramic view of the ocean, with a pool, jacuzzi, bar and beautiful seating. By then the annoyed and frustrated feelings I had been feeling over the bloody debit card dissipated. Plus they remembered me from the day before and the service was great. There were some delays that we told them about but overall I kept marveling to myself, WOW, I'm celebrating my birthday with my loved ones at this spectacular place.

Overall a great day. Thanks to all my wonderful family and friends for the best wishes. Travel Blog is acting up and so it's time to sign off. I had written this blog 4 times, saved it, and it when I'd retrieve it the info was gone.

All's great, wonderful day, sun's shining etc etc...

Stupid debit card...not annoyed about that at all...things are great...stupid *&^ debit card.

You look awesome. I love this photo of all of you...
I have been looking at all your posts!!!! They are simply awesome. Whenever I want to let my mind travel to paradise and escape life's dull drum, I check these blogs of yours. Thanks for sharing. Sometime last week, I commented on one of them, but then I clicked 'submit comment' too soon after 'comment title', and whatever I wrote after on 'comment' would not be submitted...! So here I am again, wishing you and the whole family and friends a continuing wonderful Holiday. I miss you, and hope to see you for sure once you are back. Life is better ..feeling better...and always I remember your kind words of hope. You are VERY special Sal. ;-) I need not say to soak some extra SUN and have an extra Margarita facing the ocean for me too...okay? I keep saying to others that I will visit Mexico lindo, way before I visit my own homeland. So safe and beautiful.!!!!! You know your way around and that is awesome. I love the photo of the 'jungle' house, ...my idea of great relaxation. xoxo Zully
