“In one drop of water are found all the secrets of all the oceans” – Kahlil Gibran

Hola all of you...how the heck are you? Are you enjoying your long weekend?

Well Al & Lara got here in record time on Friday. Whipped right through the Cancun airport. We were all so happy to see them both...

After they landed in, we had a fabulous lunch at Pelicanos which is a few doors down on the beach...I had actually gone for a facial on the beach for $18 CDN, and right next door was a beach restaurant where I had a drink and read a book till my appointment. The facial was nice, nothing special but a nice exfoliant and moisture face rub. Not bad for $18. God I love a deal 😊

Back to Pelicanos. The server was great earlier so I told him we'd be back for lunch. The lunch was great, hardy portions and inexpensive; however, the margaritas should have came with a warning label! Because I brought everyone back, Roberto gave us 2for1 drinks which was great but the bartender packed it with Tequila...Aye carumba 😊 By the time lunch was over I swear pink elephants were flying by!!! Both Al & I felt extremely relaxed but almost bordering on our feet coming off the ground! But given we were close to home, our foot power got us down the beach...We then went for a couples massage on the beach for $20 each, mere feet from our condo; it was very relaxing and fun to do together.

What a lovely evening on Friday night...The daytime temperature was 41 with the humidex & the low was only 28! Hot and sultry but the gentle breeze makes it just perfect. The air was alive with Latin music coursing through Playa. The past few nights we've had a thunderstorm which is amazing to watch it over the ocean. Al took a pic of the storm clouds moving in, that I've includeed below.

Al & I took a long walk yesterday and explored a new neck of the woods. We went to 48th street & the beach where Canibal Royal is (keep in mind we're staying at 6th avenue so it's quite a hike if you walk it). Canibal Royal is an upscale sophisticated beach club with a Miami 50's feel to it. There was a huge party going on yesterday afternoon with a DJ and it was party central. The restaurant has three levels, and outside is set up with funky beach beds and loungers. We went up to the middle section of the club with beautiful ocean views and actually really enjoyed the atmosphere and setting despite the pounding electronic beat. Apparently normally during the day a DJ plays a mix of Latin, jazz cool lounge type of music that's not so loud.

The upper roof has loungers and a jacuzzi & the bathrooms are shaped like submarines. Lots of cool designs and touches. I had a shrimp dish that knocked my sandals off. They butterflied the shrimp and dusted it with spices and quickly fried it and served it with two dipping sauces one a spicy hot sauce and the other a spicy mayo dip. They weren't breaded either, just so dang cripsy on the outside yet tender on the inside. They were so good I ordered a second to bring home to the kids. Casey & Kels and Marth particularly enjoyed them. Al had a grilled chicken anticucho which is a chicken marinated in cumin, garlic and aji panca which is a type of Peruvian chili pepper then it's grilled in a wood oven and served over greens with roasted tomato and a grilled fruit of some kind that we forgot to ask what it was! Our waitress Monica spent 6 months living in Montreal so we had a great chat fest about her experience living there. Another email added to my collection of nice people we've gotten to know here.

Last night we went to Mojito's which is a Cuban restaurant and they have a 6 piece Cuban band at night and they play the bongos and have a trombone which was so much fun! The singer was pretty good and we all were up dancing. What a fun night...Al had a Cuban dish of shredded beef in a Cuban creole sauce with white rice. He said it was really tasty and inexpensive.

It's Domingo; Sunday and we just finished breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt, bacon & eggs, bagels & cream cheese & cinnamon buns and ahem, champagne & orange juice. Yes; a feast for a king! Now we're slapping on the sunblock to head to the beach. It's sunny and extremely hot and for the past few days the ocean has been amazingly calm. I plan on doing a bit of shopping with Marth while the kids go in the ocean with dad.

Marth is hoping to take Casey deep sea fishing tomorrow morning. Tuesday we're hoping to get to Yal Ku lagoon in Akumal to do some amazing snorkeling and see some colorful fish in a protected calm environment.

So today we'll kick back and do nothing but R-E-L-A-X. It's not always easy for moms to actually relax when you're kids aren't quite old enough to be in the pool themselves and require supervision. And making sure everyone's got their sunblock on, and hats and sunglasses when necessary...So we moms usually need to chisel out some time to ourselves to relax and kick back a bit. I once read, "The quickest way for a mother to get her children's attention is to sit down and look comfortable". Overall I'm feeling pretty relaxed with time to wander Playa, meet people, window shop, eat great food and overall just kick back. It's great having Kels and Casey with us for many reasons but they are great supervisors of the girls here and there 😊

The kids are so looking forward to their grandparents coming to join us, arriving on Canada day from Calgary. We've got cold beer waiting for you...😊 Ray emailed that the weather is warm in Calgary so they will be somewhat ready for the heat here. Al's parents just celebrated 50 years of marriage and Al was able to make the trek to Calgary to share in their special day which culminated in a surprise party for them. I was unable to go but my heart and thoughts was with them. So we'll have to kick up our heels Ray and Pat and celebrate it here in style!

Well folks, that's about all for today. Take a look at the pics of the restaurant we ate at and other pics taken along the way below.

Drop me a comment would ya?!

Gotta run; my lounger's calling out my name!!!

Salsa queen 😊
