Yvonne and Alejandrina
Kidnapped.
As far as you can kidnap an oldtimer like me.....
A long long time I met two Mexican girls, first I met Yvonne when I went to school in France.
When I went to visit Yvonne in Mexico i was introduced to Alejandrina.
The friendship with these two astoundlingly lovely Mexican girls has lasted ever since, sometimes long between visits and sometimes not so long and every time it's just like yesterday.
On a scale of 1- 10 they get about 14.
Barely in Puebla I got whisked away towards the Mexican gulf coast, first to a town called
Zacapoaxtla,a bit of a tounge twister but a nice little place all the same and the food was good.
One thing that's lovely when traveling with the natives is that you get to try some food and or combinations thereof that you would not dream of as a visitor.
Good for the palate and good fun with dear friends at the table.
Next day a little walkabout in Zacapoaxtla where they showed everything they had we even got to visit the local prison and see some of the handicraft they made.
And some murals in the town hall and everything that they could throw at us, quite a charming effort but the end result was lacking, but 9,6 for trying.

A nice waterfall with a nice walk leading up to it and lo and behold there was a lot of water, waterfalls with a trickle are not much fun.

A nice winding road and a trout baked with Chipotle later, we arrived at Ale's friend's weekend house.
A house with a nice view and some nice rooms, it'll be nice to come back to a bed where I can actually sleep with my feet on the bed and not having then sticking out 30 cm.
Not always comfortable but thank some deity or other at least I did not freeze.
Quetzalan was the place where basically all the indigenous street vendors met the equivalent of mother Teresa, Alejandrina bought something from more or less everyone.
They looked at me and decided that I was not worth their while, good connoiseurs of people they were.
In Quetzalan we could watch the fliers, a band of mad Mexicans.

They climb up a 30 m high wooden pole stuck in the cement outside the church,
5 of them, 4 fliers and one master.
First one guy stand on top of the pole and does a dance......
They " fly" 13 rounds around the pole, 4 of them, signifying the 52 weeks of the year. As they slowly wind their way down hanging from the ropes they depict various animals .
No safety nets, just a rope each. The youngest can't have more than just into his teens.
Pink Floyd knew theses chaps:

"I've been mad for fucking years
Absolutely years, been over the edge for yonks
Been working me buns off for bands

I've always been mad, I know I've been mad
Like the most of us have
Very hard to explain why you're mad
Even if you're not mad"

I don't believe they're mad but still..
They are very proud of what they are doing and you can see it in their faces when they land.
The best thing is that they do this smack in the middle of the square in front of the church
flipping a bird to the Catholic church, doing things to please the ancient pre colombian Mexican ways and gods.According to Alejandrina, who has a vast knowledge of things Mexican, they built the churches where the Mayans or Aztecs or Toltecs or whatever had their holy places. So it's really in the right place.

A nice week end if there ever was one and the end to a long trip on a motor bike, about 14000 kms.
Thank you to every one that I've met and that had made my trip into an epic one.
Looking forward to the next leg.
