Touring the Town

Today's travels do not have too much to report, for we really did not travel any. The kids and I mostly hung out around the hotel and the downtown district. We tried a different bakery this morning and spotted some awesome looking desserts for later in the day. After breakfast we went to the lobby for some internet time while waiting for some of the businesses to open.

Most places do not open until 10 or 11 around here, which is just against my internal clock. Around 10 we headed to the Tech Museum. It is a hands on technology museum, but mostly geared towards elementary students. We looked at all the exhibits, interacting with a few of them. We were again surrounded by students on a last-week-of-school field trip, so that took away from the experience a little bit. After touring the museum we opted to attend the IMAX film along with all the students. It depicted the trials and triumphs of the railroad in the Canadian Rockies. The cinematography was cool, but dizzying.

After the film we walked back down to the main restaurant block and Shelby and I decided on Mexican but fortunately for Stephen, they also had burgers on the menu. He is very anti-Mexican when it comes to food. It was very good and authentic, probably the best burrito I have ever eaten. We then walked around downtown a bit, seeing what other activities where available for us. We considered the art museum and the hotel, but the kids did not want to do either. We saw some interesting architecture throughout the city, but did not find much else to entertain us. We stopped in the square for a rest. It has an area of water fountains, flowering trees, birds, benches and lots of people. We then went back to the hotel and hung out in the room.

After a movie and a nap, the kids were ready for dinner. Shelby kept trying to find the CMT awards, but they were not airing on the hotel tv. So we went to Johnny Rockets and came back by the bakery for dessert. My goal tonight is to determine a plan for tomorrow. It is our last full day of the trip and I am tired of the city. I think we will ride back out to the coast and see what other sights we can find.
