Singapore....Ash gives a high score apart from the toilets

Dear all,

When I wrote last we were waiting for the rain to stop. Sadly it didn't stop enough for us to explore Chinatown but that only means we will have to visit again soon!! We went to Orchard road for shopping and then eventually headed back to the hotel. After that it was time for a swim and then more amazing Asian food! We honestly haven't had a single bad meal since we arrived. Singaporean food is influenced by so many cultures that its all really interesting.

This morning we checked out and headed off to explore more of Sentosa for the day. We went to a museum called Images of Singapore which was a really good exhibition about the history of Singapore. Then we walked a nature trail through the forest. Ash had never heard such a noisy forest before full of insects, butterfly's and monkeys.

The nature trail took us down to the beach and Ash had another first...a beautiful beach with palm trees. Slightly weird to look out to sea and see the busy shipping route filled with huge tankers. We paddled in the warm water and sat under the coconut palms and then headed back to collect our bags. Then we got a taxi to the airport and that's where I am sitting now.

So now we are going to leave Asia. I have spent a lot of time here and although we only did Singapore I really wanted Ash to like it. The good news is that he's loved it. He likes the food, the great scenery, the culture and the people. He even announced today that although he still loves cold places he has really enjoyed the heat here. Even when it was 35 degrees and 100 percent humidity today!!! So it's got me thinking about future adventures. I'd love to show him Bali and some other bits of Indonesia.

So now we have a couple of hours and then we jump on our 7 hour flight to Sydney and then our connection to New Zealand. We will get there about 3 tomorrow afternoon and then pick up our campervan. I expect we will drive to the nearest campsite and then sleep!!!
