I have now spent two days in Miraflores in Lima, in good company of friends that I met in Brazil during my last trip. Isn't it fantastic to be able to meet the same people again?!?! Destiny. Lima itself is actually not really worth visiting, but Miraflores is a nice place to spend a day or two when you need civilisation and good food (I really missed sushi...). Hehe.
Yesterday I arrived to Cusco, for the Independence Day parties. Cusco is a beautiful place, but oh, so many tourists! I am already geting tired of "Psst, senorita..." and "Mi amiga...". The city itself in the center actually reminds me of the Alpes, there are treehouses with wodden balconies and tons of tourists in winter clothes running around. It is definitely worth visiting, but I am really longing to get out of the hectic tourist areas. I hope that Machu Picchu will not be too crowded.
Today I went horsebackriding with two Danish girls. We had a look at some of the remaining temples of the Incas that are close to Cusco. The excursion was quite an adventure. I was the only one with horsebackriding experience, so they gave me the worst horse - with no proper riding equipment (you know the thing you put in their mouth). Therefore, I had to try to use my legs as mush as possible - I bet I will feel that in my muscles tomorrow. Puh! So every time my horse felt like venturing out on his own I had to either kick like a mad, or call Joel (the guide) who would have to run the fastest he could to catch me. But even more often, my horse fell asleep standing. At least it felt so when we were not moving and all I could do was to call "Joel!!!" who would come and stamp in the ground behind him so that he would start trotting for a few meters before falling asleep again. It was nice to be back up on the horseback again though.
