Today I plan on doing nothing cuz I started it yesterday and never finished it. ~

Hola all. Oh what a glorious morning, Oh what a glorious day...

Hope the weather at home is treating you nice but I just got word from mom that yesterday it was 16C in Ottawa with rain. At 7am yesterday the temperature was 26C with a humidex of 37 but there is a soft lovely breeze. The forecast shows great weather right through till Tues with a small amount of rain. I've never seen a full day of rain here yet so we'll wait and see on that forecast. As I've said before, I predict it will be hot and sunny today, and oh yeah, it will be hot and sunny tomorrow . Next job meteorologist...😊

Well our day was fant-abulous at Xel Ha waterpark on (Thurs). It was a 40 minute drive to Xel Ha and by 10:40 am we were there. There was a dolphin show when we got into the park and those dolphins are the comedians of the water. Something to see...Casey, Kels and Marth were blown away by the park, so lush and green with lagoons as far as the eye can see. I think Ray & Pat would love it.

We got our stuff into our lockers and walked to get the jungle train to the top of the lazy river. Ava and I got a double tube and away we went. You need to just look at the lagoon water to see how clear it is, and to see some of the limestone underneath. It's very beautiful scenery to float through with trees and plants and birds singing...and refreshing, as it was tres caliente (hot). It was busier there than before and I'm thinking local kids got out of school yesterday but it's such a big park we didn't feel the effects too much.

Casey and Kelsey jumped off the cliffs, and really enjoyed the rush! We all did a zipline into the water (a few times) which was zippittidy doo dah fun time. Casey snorkeled and saw every fish imaginable including sting rays. Then after lunch the gang took a swimming tour of the caves...To see the area where the ocean meets the lagoon is absolutely stunning. The waves roll in and bounce off the cliffs...Xel Ha is one of the most beautiful places I've seen. After a few hours swimming and floating around in the heat it was time to break for lunch...I was afraid we'd burn but we were well protected with sun shirts etc.

Live music was playing and the restaurants are all beside one another so it was just a case of picking what appealed to us. The international cuisine won; it's a little more high end with some healthier options. I think Xel Ha wants their money back; Casey is a big eater and a growing lad, but he actually is such a healthy eater that he had 4 plates of salad! He was game to try all the hot sauces near the taco buffet and I think he thought at one point it was a Mexican relish on his plate but it was haberneros...he grabbed Kelsey's lemonade and was pouring it down his steaming mouth. We had a good laugh over the theatrics...They made pretty good margaritas and the kids had lime strawberry daiquiries (without the alcohol!) which they gave 3 thumbs up to. After enjoying the cheese bar with fresh baguettes, salad bar with all sorts of toppings, taco and fajita bar with freshly made tortillas, guacamole, salsa...We also had grilled chicken, baby potatoes, steamed rice, scalloped zucchini, marinated pork tenderloin, arrachera steak, fish fillet in coconut cream sauce, grilled vegetables, three types of soup, and so much more. The kids had brownies and fruit salad along with soft ice cream cones for dessert. Later we went to the fast food spot for fries, onion rings, chicken wings and burgers. It was all really good except for a bird who'd met his match in me trying to steal my fries!

As for the Mayan spa, OMG...It was truly an amazing experience. They take you into this spa oasis with beautiful nature music playing and it's very much set up like a spa at home but it was in a cabana with waterfalls and very soothing sounds. Karina started with a facial scrub that was gentle and refreshing, and then the Mayan spa includes a whole body scrub which was so reinvigorating. This takes some time then afterwards, you are washed off with cool water and gently scrubbed off (while all the time still lying on the table!) Talk about the height of laziness. After that you get this amazing Mayan clay put all over you that is soooo soothing and cool as being so hot there it is so welcomed. Then you get your hair washed and your scalp massaged. That was such a treat...lying on a massage table getting your hair washed? I've got a 7 letters for that. AMAZING! Then you finally get off the table and are led to a Mayan shower in the garden where they rinse you off. it was so enjoyable I was trying to contain my excitement. I even said HOLA to the waterfalls...Afterwards you receive an amazing massage and head rub that will chase any stress you are having away. In fact it will chase away the stress you will have tomorrow before you even know you're going to be stressed. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and barely had the stength to get a free margarita...barely but I did it somehow (heh heh hehee) (Hi Shannon Toll if you're reading this I bought you some healing Mayan stones at the spa and will send them home with your parents!) By the time I was done you could put a sticker on me and call me gumby! It was an experience I hope to repeat while I'm here!

After that experience we were all beat from the feet up and enjoyed a quiet ride home. We ate in, played cards, and Marth can hook her computer up to the big flat screen TV so we watched movies on Netflix...If it can get any better here....well I just don't know how!

Al and Lara arrive today (Friday) I'm behind a bit in my blogs...it's early morning so Ava and I walked to Mega and bought beautiful sunflowers for our table. Casey's making breakfast for us! Bacon, eggs, grain toast, fruit salad, yogurt, fresh berries and I'll pick up freshly squeezed orange juice to round it all out.

Here's to another day in Playa-dice...paradise actually.

PS got a new air conditioner and our washer fixed. Things are cookin' with oil now 😊 Lara & Al arrived here in record time, no lineups at Cancun, got in the private van waiting for them with Corona, water, ice tea, pop...such a treat. Girls are counting down the days till grandma and grandpa come...

Enjoy the long weekend and Happy Canada day and happy early birthday to dad on Canada Day! We've hung our Canada Day flag I brought out on our balcony! And on that note, few people could take a snapshot of Canada life and put it in a song like Stompin' Tom Connors...RIP Tom you are a Canadian icon...

CANADA DAY, UP CANADA WAY by Stompin Tom

It's Canada Day up Canada Way on the first day of July. And we're shouting hooray up Canada Way when the maple leaf flies high.Where the silver jets from East to West go streaming through our skies. We'll be shouting hooray up Canada Way when the great parade goes by.Chorus:Oh Canada, standing tall together,We'll raise our hands and hail our flagThe maple leaf forever. It's Canada Day up Canada Way on the coast of Labrador. And we're shouting hooray up Canada Way on the white Pacific shore.People everywhere have a song to share on Canada's holiday. From P. E. Island to the sunny south to the North Pole far away.Chorus...It's Canada Day up Canada Way on the long cold winters done. And we're shouting hooray up Canada Way for the great days yet to come.Where maple trees grow maple leaves when the Northern sun is high. We're Canadians and we're born again on the first day of July.Chorus...<br style="color: font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal;" />It's Canada Day up Canada Way from the lakes to the prairies wide. And we're shouting hooray up Canada Way on the St. Lawrence river side.People everywhere have a song to share on Canada's holiday. From P. E. Island to the sunny south to the North Pole far away.Chorus...We'll raise our hands and hail our flagThe maple leaf forever.
