Yoho to Jasper

Day 17...

Greetings! A shorter update this time....!

We have continued our trail up the Icefield Parkway, stopping at Bow Lake (which in our humble opinion is even more beautiful than Lake Louise) and took the oppotunity to jump on a 6 wheel drive 'Snowcoach' to take us on to the Athabasca Glacier - which was freezing! Naturally!

After hiking up Parker Ridge for more views of the glaciers we drove on (accompanied by The Rolling Stones) to reach Jasper, where we are now staying for a few days.

This morning we awoke to find ourselves surrounded by Elk! We offered them a maple syrup-drenched bacon sandwich but they seemed more than happy with the grass of our campsite! We then went to a quiet spot in Jasper called Pyramid Lake (no we haven't got bored of them yet!) and found some friendly woodpeckers who posed obligingly for us to take photos of them from only 2 feet away! Ivan - that one's for you!

We are off in another vein attempt to see a moose this eveing before cooking up a Hurry Special Spaghetti Bolognaise and sample some Canadian wine al fresco with the Elk!

We've only got a two more days left in the Rockies before a couple of long days of driving to Vancouver, where we'll return our RV & get back to civilisation!

Thank you to those of you who have written messages - keep them coming! Hope all is well with everyone!

Til next time...

I am so jealous...
Greetings from a bright sunny day in Brixton. Managed to catch up on all of your blogs thanks to Jess. Everything look fantastic - even Martin look a little on the 'cool' side. Honestly though, good to read/see that you two are having such a brilliant time and getting so much done. Anj, you scare me with how organised you are (I'm assuming that you've done most of the planning - Martin, do forgive me if I'm wrong). I'm fairly intrigued by this moose hunt and I wonder how much longer we're going to have to wait for the first sighting. I wish all succes in your quest. Happy Hunting!!
