Planned a lay in, but people in and out of the dorm at 4 and 6am, but it meant I had a nice leisurely morning. I went to the DOC offices for 8.30am, and spent the morning writing and preparing my display material for the YHA. Part of the YHA’s agreement to let me stay here for free whilst I was volunteering on the project was that I would update their notice board on ‘Kids Restore the Kelper’. These things always take longer than you think, and by 2pm I finally left with the laminated display work and everything in hand.

After lunch at the hostel and wondering in to town to pick up the cinema tickets etc I took down the old items on the display board. I had a brief stop 4.15 – 5.15pm to watch the fly over display by some old planes which was actually fantastic and then headed back to the hostel to arrange and put up all my material. Luckily this didn’t take too long and I then started thinking about dinner. Anna and I had pooled resources for food so I did roasted pumpkin and parsnip, and then pasta with broccoli, onion, carrot and courgette in a tomato sauce. It was very yummy and nice to cook for someone more than just yourself and put a bit more effort in.

Before we knew it, it was 7.45pm and time to head to the cinema. I settled in and enjoyed the first 45min or so of the film, until it got really quite gorey, and suddenly I realised I had passed out. Luckily no-one had noticed, and I felt rather cold, clamy and light headed….I made it out of the cinema just in time to be ill in the toilet….so not cool! The staff member in the cinema was so lovely, making me lay down and getting me a cold damp towel for my head and a bucket – how very embarrassing! I lay there for a while, the staff member went and told Anna, who rushed out to see me but I insisted she went back in and enjoyed the film. On the way back to the hostel (luckily just round the corner) I had to make a few stops to continue emptying my stomach. Back at the hostel after a quick shower I felt slightly better and head straight to sleep, with a bag under my pillow just in case, but luckily for me and those in my dorm it was not required!
