Eco centre showing rice cultivation Today we have checked into the Krabi Tipa Resort in Ao Nang in the South west province of Krabi. Since you are never quite sure in south-east Asia whether a booking is a booking we approached the rather grand entrance with a certain amount of trepidation. We are lucky this time and the wooden bungalows are set in tropical gardens facing a jungle filled limestone cliff. It is beautiful and clean- one of my favourite C words on this trip! The hotel entrance is filled with a huge C tree and decorations. Staff in cafes and shops are sporting C hats and the laundry this morning was playing C carols! It won't like celebrating at home but, even if Iain won't let me mention the C word, I am sure we will have a great time by the pool or walking along the beach!
A few days ago we spent 10 hours travelling, by minibus, ferry, bus and taxi, from Langkawi in North-west Malaysia via Satun on the Thailand coast to reach this area close to well known islands of Phuket and Phi Phi. We plan to spend the christmas week here before moving on.
We hope that you and your
families all have a splendid Christmas holiday, and we will raise a glass or two to you wishing you health and happiness for 2013. Love and best wishes from Ann and Iain.

Hey Presto!
Hi to you both. I was only wondering early yesterday how you were both doing and hey presto there was your blog! All looks very exciting and have been enjoying your diary (particularly the one about sharing train carriages!). Great to have some pictures too, obviously you are making the most of the hotel wifi! Michael is currently on the RMS and due home on Sat. It continues to rain here (of course). We too will raise a glass to absent friends (all absentees were mentioned in dispatches last night at Gordon's 65th dinner so not forgotten). Continue to enjoy your adventure and keep us posted. Di xx
