Typical van...MY final full day in Vancouver was fitting as it was pouring rain.. just how i left it many moons ago, Friday morning I rolled over and realized that TODAY is the day.. Thanks to my lovely host Dave I was able to sleep in (thank you thank you thank you) repack my bag for the last time and headed to the bus depot to leave my bag for the day while I wandered trying to find a way to waste my last day without spending any money. I got about half way there when I started breaking out into a sweat.,
Why am I sweating while mearly walking briskly pulling a bag?? Because the bottom of the bag is HOOPED... it was making a horrible noise and I was just short of draggin the damn thing.. O already had a backpack on and was in no mood to pick up and carry another 50 pounds. Well what better to fix it than duct tape riiiiiight? FOR The record if you ever need to buy duct tape China town apparently is NOT the place to it.. it was alot of jumpbled WHaaaa? pardon.. i don't understand before I gave up. Just
outside of China town I found a home depot cart and threw my belongings in there and rolled that bad boy all the way to the bus depot, i was envy of all the street people with my pimpin orange ride.
AT the bus depot they were able to provide me with packing tape which did a great job of keeping the bag together.
I ended up going right to the airport since there was nothing to do really in town. My only entertainment was a beer and my friend shawn via phone kept me amused up to boarding call time. I tried to sweet talk my way into first class but it was full which was dissipointing, but good to know that you can upgrade if you want.
Traveling tip for you, just before boarding call ask to see if you upgrade for a fee to first class if it isn't full.
I had window seat and just as I sit down the stench of BO filled my nostrils and hit my nausea button in the form of a large man who plumped down next to me. "hello" he says
"brush your teeth" I think.. this
guy was so smelly and just wanted to talk.. I just wanted to curl upin a ball and cry.. i had to spend 11 hours next to this thing.. he leaned over my chair for alot of the flight that he was awake babbeling in my face and staring out the window.. it got to the point that I snapped the window shut just to get him off my lap.. "just more clouds really" I smiled.. it was than he says to me " I hope I'm not a pain to you tonight" (too late) "but I wanted to let you know I suffer from severe sleep apnea ... just great eh? I was so not amused...so shortly after 10pm PCT I downed 3 gravol and threw in my ear plugs and woke up to find his face practically on my shoulder, shuddered squished myself up against the wall of the plane and prayed for solid sleep for the next 3 hours.
ANYWAYS.. i made it.. Coley was there to pick me up and we took the train back to Bolton, iI had my face smeared against the window trying to take it all in. His place and
my current place of residence is something out of Mary Poppins or Cornation st. It's super cute. Did some grocery shopping and wanted to make it my mission to FIND mac n cheese in a can, but Coley fell a little ill in the middle of the shop and I grabbed dinner and a bottle of wine and came home.
Made dinner and drank some wine and wandered over to the local pub for a pint. Very exciting they have Stella on tap. Apparently that is the 'hardcore' beer out here.
strange changes out here so far.. the electrical plugs, hot water is on the right, driving on the left, 2 cents coin is bigger than 1 dollar... if I EVER hear another americain call canadian money 'funny money' i'm going to throw them a handful of this change..
MY sleep is messed up and I'm going to bed now..
