After a 15 hour journey from Laos to Cambodia, we finally made it to Siem Reap, home of the amazing temples. My other sister Gita and her husband Nik joined my Party. I hadn't seen them since they left for their travels, so 8 months ago, was really excited to see them.

I was surprised to learn that Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples were in fact a mixture of Hindu and Buddhist temples, infused at some stage or another by this king and that King. I think what surprised me more (and i guess this is my naivety) that Hindus were in South East Asia?!!

Aside from the history, my 3 day pass was worth every penny. The temples were amazing. Made from stone, each stone made an impression, either due to the carvings or by being placed with another form a Buddha or an animal of some sort.

I loved the window frames and I was quick to start using them as picture frames, as you will see from the photos. My favorite temple was the Bayon temple with its 52 towers, each tower taking the formation of 4 Buddhas facing north, south, east, west.

Preah Khan temple was another fave, and I had so much fun with the numerous long corridors and window frames, I was tempted to suggest playing "Hide and Seek" but thought better of it!

After 3 days, I was definitely templed out, but I enjoyed every bit, especially when I pretended to be Lara Croft in Tomb Raider 2(filmed at Ta prohm temple) :-)
