So we disembarked the ferry, hopped back onto the bus and enjoyed a amazingly scenic drive to Kaiteriteri, a little village in the middle of nowhere. Here I met a chap from Stratford-upon-Avon. Literally 10 minutes from where I live. And we met on the opposite side of the world in a remote little village. Crazy!

By this time it was pretty late in the day so we got showered and went to, you guessed it, the bar. Here they put on a pub quiz for us all which was a laugh. Our team didn't win though, which was probably a good thing as the prize was a $30 bar tab.
The following morning we headed to Westport stopping off along the way to see some more natural marvels. We first stopped at the Nelson lakes which is absolutely stunning. It was also snowing when we arrived which made it even more spectacular. A couple of the crew decided it would be a good idea to jump in the lake. Not my cuppa cold tea thanks.

After taking in the beauty of the lake we carried on to the Pancake rocks where the rock formations resembled pancakes. We went for a walk through the rock formations down onto a lovely beach where we all got drawn into watching the waves ferociously crashing into the rocks.
After arriving in Westport we went for another walk to watch the sunset. Clouds appeared and that was about that. Nothing interesting to report.
From Westport we set off again to Lake Mahinapua. This night we stayed in a lovely old pub, once again in the middle of nowhere, nicknamed the poo pub. There was the lake to one side and a beach to the other. Perfect. So we spent a bit of time at both.

Before we got to the poo pub we stopped off at some cheap second hand clothes shops to pick out stupid outfits for tonights piss up. There was a theme, tight and bright. Needless to say all us guys dressed up as women. I spent something like £4 and had myself a lovely skimpy bright pink little girls top, a yellow skirt and some flippers as footware?!?!? This is going to be a funny night.
And it was. Before we all got dressed up we had an amazing meal cooked by the old man that owns the pub. 2 massive slabs of steak with veggies etc, all for £5 and it was very tasty. You can't complain at that.
Right back to the rooms to get ready for the mahem.
Everyone made a really good effort. There was mainly guys dressed as girls, Sean dresed as a baby, Joe was a pimp, some of the guys had hot pants on, the girls were all looking pretty spectacular dressed in very bright clothing and I couldn't walk properly because I had fucking flippers on my feet. What a night though. Definately one to be remembered
