Bonjour...What a wonderful day! Marty went early to boulangeire and frwee mkt. to purchase fresh baked bread and fruit for our petit de'jeuner....she returned and made afresh brewed pot of darkroast coffee. what a start to our day.
We decided on a walk north through Les Halles, past the beautiful St. Eustache Church to the RueMontorgueil strip of speciality shops, fruit markets, butcher shops, street side coffee shops and flowervendors.
We enjoyed our leisurely stroll...purchased a few flowers, a baked chicken and more fresh bread for lunch. We enjoyed another dark roast cup of cafe' avec cre'me, and As we sat to enjoy the cafe' and take photos of local color I sketched the fruitier across the street.
We came back to apt. To enjoy our balcony and eat our lunch. Then a rest was in order to ready usfor our evening reservations at the Charbonrouge restaurant on rue Marbeuf on the west bank not far from the Eiffel Tower. After a most delicious dinner of Argentine beef and Frits (fries) and a 60.00euro bottle ofwine...we wandered lazily through some of the most beautiful streets of P aris to arrive at the Eiffel tower just in time for the 9:00 hourly display of twinkling lights. It is hard to imagine what a breath-taking sight this is. It was much too crowded to consider a trip up tonight so we decided to save that for a week night this week in hopes of lesser crowds.
We are snug at home now in our cozy but noisy apt. On a happening street making ready for bed since Dudley will be arising to watch Alabama beat Michigan at 2:30 a.m. Paris time.
