Tessa as a volunteer It was with much relief that we finally boarded the bus in Rotorua to take us to Auckland and Pete and I could at long last relax as we honestly didn't realise how much last minute stuff there was to do in that last week!
I did, however, manage to fit in an exhilarating tandem skydive courtesy of my wonderful employers at Checkmate and one thing that I can cross off my bucket list.
The youngest of our 25 year old twins, finally left home for the first time and moved into a flat only 24 hours before we moved out of our rental property and our new tenants moved in!
Most of our gear was safely transferred back to our main home to be stored in the garage apart from a collection of 25 old Whisky water jugs in immaculate condition that ended up being tipped upside down and shattering into hundreds of pieces!
So, an early morning flight was boarded via Lan Chile and we spent two wonderful days with our two daughters in Sydney, catching the ferry to Manley and walking the North Head of the harbour one day and visiting Cockatoo Island with

Cute Koala that Tessa looked after. it's questionable modern art displays on another day. Sydney is beautiful on a sunny day with it's amazing Opera House and bridge but after a couple of days I am always ready to move on to somewhere not quite so crowded.
So, this is exactly what we did on Monday morning having no work to go to, which still seems strange yet. We picked up Mattie, along with our daughter Kylie, whose name we discovered years after christening her means boomerang and therefore is always coming back! We obligingly were giving her a ride up to the Gold Coast where she will once again leave us to search for employment there.
As we were due in Logan City in Queensland in 4 days time this was quite a hurried trip but we were still keen to see as much as possible, so stopped the nights, as per our map, in Fingal Bay, Port Maquarrie and Yamba, not far out of Byron bay. Mattie is very easy to drive, the Australian roads excellent and our GPS lady is most of the time helpful. No drop of rain so far so lots of ticks all round. White empty beaches are

Cute bird - Tawny Frogmouth in abundance also. (I sound like an ad for the Australian Tourist bureau)
We are now all relaxing at our good friend Jo's home, attempting to take care of Charlotte the cat who is missing Jo very much. Jo has an amazing place out in the bush with wallabies continually hopping past the house, cheeky magpies coming into the house to pinch the cat's tucker if they get the chance and kookaburras constantly chattering away. What with all the gum trees and Wattle trees it is hard to forget that we are finally in Australia.
Will be spending the next week getting the gear for Mattie, such as table and chairs, BBQ. electric bikes etc.
Closing now to eat my Kangaroo burger.
Until my next update, regards to all.
