You hear talk of how expensive Norway is. But you think of course that is people who aren't seasoned travellers, who allow themselves to be taken advantage of in tourist traps. Not me.....

But this beer cost 62kr from a reasonably average pub that was full of Norwegians (we were the only people speaking English). 62kr is $9.80.

This followed on from the $50 sandwich and coffee for two for lunch. Often travel guides talk about getting away from the main tourist drag to avoid big ripoffs. Exactly where is that in Norway? Estonia perhaps?

Yup!
The higher you travel the more expensive it gets, right? Less than a euro for a beer in Dubrovnik! :) Glad you're trip of a lifetime is underway, enjoy yourselves A&D - and keep up the blogging!

Switch to Akevitt
Get off the light stuff -beer - and get onto the Akevitt - schnapps. Apparently it's a great addition to the special TV you have access to.

We agree.
The prices are amazing in a shocking sort of way.
