The View from our Hotel Room
Wow!

That's about all we can say about Bangkok. There is so much going on at one time, it's crazy.

Apparently we started our day way too early. Since we ended up sleeping the majority of the day yesterday, and then all night after that awful plane flight, we woke up this morning around 7 and started the day. The hotel we are staying at offers breakfast, so we went down and gave it a shot. It was suprisingly good. They have almost everything, even a omelet station.

After breakfast, we decided to brave the streets and take a walk. There must not be any traffic laws in Thailand, or none that we have observed. From scooters weaving in and out of traffic, and pedestrians just walking in front of moving vehicles, I believe we saw it all today. We wanted to do a little shopping, but there were not any businesses open. They all seemed to open around 10. So, we sat and people watched for a couple hours until they opened. We sat next to what we believe was a coffee stand, that is really popular with the locals. All we know since we could not read their sign is that they used about 10 ingredients in each coffee, and then usually put it over ice.

At 10, a mall named Terminal 21(named because it is linked to terminal 21 of the Skytrain) finally opened and we had a look. Each floor is themed after a different country or city. The USA had two separate levels for San Francisco and Hollywood. San Francisco included a large Golden Gate bridge mock up over the central stairwell. It was large enough to cover two of the floors. The Hollywood levels was mostly technical and their movie theatre. Everything in this mall was overpriced so we did a lot of looking, but no buying.

We then decided to go to one of the other larger malls in town called Siam Paragon, so we jumped on the BTS Skytrain. It's a great system for getting around the city. All of the stops have food and drink stations (some even have lingerie stations). It takes a 20-30 minute walk down to a few minute ride, all for about $1 a ticket.

The new mall was massive. We don't have malls like this in Texas. There was every top designer you could think of, a Maserati and Lamborghini dealership, IMAX theaters, and a food court. We decided to watch the new Batman movie in the IMAX (it was in English with Thai subtitles). In these theaters, you get to pick your seat, so we picked the couches on the top row that come with blankets, so you are nice and comfy. The movie was awesome, and so was the experience.

We left the mall and came back to the hotel. We are going to take a little break and then head out for Kayde's birthday. We hope everything is well back home.
