Chandra and I went into Yokohama today since I had to go pay rent. Since next month I have to pay with my Japanese bank account - which I don't have yet since I STILL don't have my residence card, I don't get it until NEXT Monday at the earliest - I'm going to have to play musical money with the money in my American account so I can get it into my Japanese bank account by Aug. 27th, LOL. Should be interesting.

However, it meant that we could explore a bit since I'm still really unfamiliar with the "city center" part of Yokohama, even if I'm great with the suburbs (particularly mine). We walked towards the bay area along a really pretty part of the city that was awesomely quiet on a Monday afternoon, and made it to this great mall near Tokyo Bay. It's where the Mexican buffet is, which is on our "to-eat-at" list once I am actually seeing regular paychecks. There were so many stores there, and we really only hit the bottom level and the 5th level, along with the roof. But we saw cool stuff - like the movie theater!

Gloomy day
Coldstone, which I can't even lie, was freaking amazing. I got this crazy chocolate calorie mess and it was fantastic. I don't usually crave sweets but Japan doesn't do real sweet stuff, nor do I ever buy chocolate/candy here, so it was a great treat! We went onto the roof where there was a minature golf course and some really great views of the city. :]

Then we walked back to the station and I, of course, managed to get on the wrong train going home, but figured it out quickly and fixed it. I ended up stopping at Book Off on the way home, just to see if they had anything good, and they had a small selection of old idol mags + some old CD's (I found 'Queen of Pirates' for 500 yen), so it was fun going through it and trying to see if they had any pictures I required on my walls.

I don't feel unsafe at all walking home in the dark here, and I love returning to my neighborhood after a day spent traveling elsewhere. I think that really says something, because this place is already feeling like home! <3 Boy, my

feet hurt after today. I've been out of shape with mega-walking during sight-seeing here since I've been working, haha.

Good News
Nice to know that things are going better for you..........sounds like you chose the right school to start your teaching even if it is so far away. Be careful walking in the dark .... pay attention to what you are doing........I know it is that old G/ma that worries too much. It is just because I love you. Sure enjoying your blogs......I have let Arlene read them too and she worried about you in the beginning when things were not going as well. Take good care of yourself and I will be looking forward to your next blog. LOVE YOU. G/ma Jo.
