We have moments of doubt!
We're going great, despite the reports on our fancy satellite weather display. It has been hot, humid and the weather is feeling fretful around us, just like it is in the rest of the continent.

The weather picture got a lot better when I figured out how to delete the storm indicator arrows and figures. But it was a shock when I first looked at the display, expecting fair winds.

So we have been taking small steps along the coast, visitng and waiting for thunderstorms to pass.

We've had visits at St. Simon Island and Brunswick, Georgia and Hilton Head, South Carolina. Then we zoomed through Charleston because we've visited there a few times by land and sea and the weather was petulant in the giant harbour.

We have staying inside and redoing the ICW in the reverse direction. The first time we came through here it was winter coat weather and we were fleeing south with the help of Dr. Paul and Dawn Long, after Frank's heel injury. So a lot of it seems new. I did recognize the spot south of Georgetown. SC where I went on deck at night in time to see a giant, smoking pulp barge lunging toward our anchorage, 3 years ago. They almost missed their turn. when they deflected they ran aground on a bank just beyond us. Looking at the tracks on our computer nav. system yesterday, I realized we really did have a close call.

We are enjoying a quick visit to a really funky town, Georgetown, South Carolina. This was the rice plantation capital of the Carolinas and now it sports a steel mill and a pulp mill. The rest is a charming shrimping and recreational harbour on a great historic town, dating back to the 1700's.

Our plan is to exit this afternoon by the Winyah Sound and sail for Cape Fear tonight. The seas are calmer than usual and we are looking forward to visiting at Carolina Beach.

In the meantme, going upstreet, along the awesome boardwalk, to the Piggley Wiggley... grocery store, that is.

Keeping a weather eye...

Weather
We are still without meaningful rain. Yesterday they promised 34 mm for this Saturday. This morning it was gone and we are now told about a chance 0f 2 mm on Friday. They have had more in Essex/Kent and Belleville eastward. The westerners and easterners have had too much and we have been watching what is going on south of us... we do not need that either! The way you are moving up the coast you will meet more people and that is good. Good Sailing M&M

Great to hear from you!
Hi Chris & Frank, sounds like another good sail home. Continue the safe journey through muggy unsettled weather. K.
