Oh what a day! We left before the sun came up headed for the beautiful town of Fredericksburg, TX. The oil rigs were lit up like Christmas trees and the air smells of oil. It was something that would take getting used to for sure. Our hotel in Pecos, was very nice considering what the rest of the town looked like. We actually braved the mexican joint in town and found it to be the best Mexican food I have ever had! It was yummy! So...back to my story....we made a quick stop in Fredericksburg after about a 4 hour drive and then headed for the LBJ Ranch. This was the ranch of President Lyndon Johnson and was also known as the Texas Whitehouse since he spent about a quarter of his presidency at this house. It was beautiful. There are no pictures of the inside of the whitehouse. They do not allow it. They had the runway that the president used to land Air Force One and also the actual plane that landed on display. The audio tour through the 600acres was great. It was more than I expected. We left there and headed for Blanco, Texas. I wanted to be a short drive from San Antonio so we can get there early and start exploring. The hotel in Blanco was really nice and we had the entire pool all to ourselves for the entire night! It was bliss.
