Sunday June 3 – Sunday June 3 Cork and Cobh -Drinking my tea and thinking things over. Today I am planning on walking down the street a bit to the train station and taking the train to the seaside town of Cobh. It has quit raining for now and I think I see a little sunshine trying to peer through the clouds.

I took the train to Cobh for about 7 Euros return and walked all over the town, I had plopped down in the middle of a bagpipe and marching competition so I watched the bagpipe competition, ate at Supermac’s, and toured the Titanic Museum, and rode the train back to Cork. It was a very good day and I enjoyed it very much. The marchers all wore different and intricate as well as spotlessly clean uniforms. Very colorful outfits with kilts and long socks of different colors.

The titanic museum was interesting but sad to think of all those people who left from the very dock I was standing on and who had such high hopes only to be going to their fate.

Cobh was an interesting town and well worth a side trip.

Cobh - further tips
Hey, Sorry, I meant to add that it was a pity you didn't have the weather on your side for your trip (nothing new in Ireland though, I know!) because Cobh is one of those towns whose splendour is magnified one-hundredfold on a sunny day. REALLY. Now, I remember the summer of 2012 here in Cork only too well, and I clearly remember us being hit with heavy bouts of rain around the time you said you visited Cobh. You were just unlucky with that - the past two summers in Cork have been beautiful. Well, if you ever make it back here, I would strongly advise you to visit Cobh on a sunny summer's day (and there will be many then). :) Also, you can now visit 'Spike Island', which is just offshore from Cobh town.

Spike Island
Thanks for the info. I will make sure to visit Spike Island next time I visit Cobh.
