Recently we had what is known as Art Week in Dubai... It was a week of art frenzy for us art lovers and artist!....There was the international art fair, Art Dubai held at Madinat Jumeirah ( more on that later), Art Nights : where all the commercial galleries in DIFC and Al Quoz had their opening nights on the one night...which meant art hopping from gallery to gallery in the industrial area of Al Serkel Ave.. where there are warehouse after warehouse of galleries...then on to the swanky financial district for the up market galleries all based around a podium level courtyard.

In the middle of all this I was involved as an Art Bus Tour Guide for the Bastikiya & Jumeirah area. Art in the City/ Jam Jar/ Dubai Culture , organised this event to take 3 large tour buses on 3 separate gallery routes, to visit all the art galleries around Dubai to coincide with the main Art Dubai international art fair...

I hope to do a separate blog on Art Week.. but for now I wanted to share my photos of the beautiful Bastikya, heritage area, where my tour group spent a lot of time, visiting amongst others.. XVA gallery, Majlis Gallery, Mawaheb From Beautiful People ( a non profit organisation for young adults with special needs), Tashkeel & Artist in Residence houses, Basta cafe, and wandering the laneways discovering the houses & courtyards which hosted the SIKKA art fair, the local fringe art fair...

I have more photos of the art bus tour on Art in The City website and my public facebook page : Studio Kathryn Ryan Artist. For here I would like to show the environment of Bastikiya where the art tours took place...
