We "enthusiastically" awoke at 5am for the sunrise
At 5am this morning we awoke to see Angkor Wat for the first time. The early hour allowed us to see first light hit the temple. This was amazing to the say the least and we were both happy we did not succumb to our laziness and woke early to see it!

The rest of the day was spent exploring Angkor Wat itself, Angkor Thom complex, and Ta Prohm. Each temple was amazing in its own way. Angkor Thom's Bayon Temple was impressive for its sheer size and the many faces of Buddha covering each outcrop, Ta Prohm (shown in the movie Tomb Raider) had a unique look as nature in the form of many large trees had grown through the temple's walls and rooms over the centuries, and finally Angkor Wat was amazing for it's carvings, and play of natural light in it's architectural design

Although the temperature today was even worse than y'day and 2 of the 3 temples have very little shade, we were both more than happy we came as words and pictures can not express the things we saw today - definitely one of the highlights of our trip so far!
