I Landed with a bump

Yikes! What the bloody hell am I doing? I have finally realised what I have done, I’ve really dropped myself in it. It’s not the same feeling of being a fool in someone’s country for a couple of weeks. By this I mean the many times I have visited a country and not known how to speak the language. I don’t mind not understanding people. I’m a great listener in fact I think that was the main part of my job and my life up to date. It’s quite nice not to listen and have a valid excuse. I’ve always been happy in the company of people speaking a different language but now I’m bothered.

It doesn’t feel the same now, now that I know that I’m hanging around for some time and my main goal from traveling is to learn to speak Spanish. Every time I even think of opening my mouth I feel like a chief, not a good feeling at all. The first afternoon I stick to the hotel focusing on Mexican soap operas instead of venturing out, what a chicken. The next day is better, I made it out to breakfast and had a kind of breakfast (I think I ordered something that was more of a lunch time thing).

Then I got on the metro and headed to museum land, the historical zone. I did the modern art museum which I loved, the buildings were cool. Got chatting to an attendant, seems to be my thing, although I’m sure he loved my accent, we couldn’t understand a word each other was saying. I did the castle and walked around the park for some time and felt that was my lot for the day. When I got back to the hotel I did a serious internet search for Spanish courses in Cuanavaca. I was in need of some serious help, language wise.
