We arrived safely in busy Bangkok after a long bumpy 11 hour flight which Rachel slept through.
On the 1st day we had a tour of the city visiting temples and saw a lot of buddhas!!!!!! Then got dragged and forced to go into jewellery shops and custom suits shops each one trying to sell us hundreds of pounds worth of things (we musnt have looked like backpackers :P) and then taken to a travel agents where the guy tried to sell us everything under the sun in a 1 week tour!!
In the end we reluctantly signed up for a tour in Kanchanaburi which we had planned to go to anyway.....
Kanchanaburi was beautiful, much less polluted than Bangkok. For our stay we got to stay on Raft houses which was interesting and quite basic!! We had an unwanted lodger, Jerry the mouse 😊
We got to visit caves and saw a load of bats, which scared Rachel. Then onto a 7 tier waterfall which was absolutely gorgeous, getting to trek up the rocky paths and jumping into the cool pools for a swim... only issue was the fish biting you!!!! This caused Paul to jump
out of the water sitting on a rock and squishing a poor innocent butterfly... woops. The park was home to a load of monkeys which was cool to see but once we had taken all of our photos of them we came to a sign saying "Beware of fierce monkeys" woops
An interesting side of the Kanchanaburi was the WW2 museums and the bridge over the river Kwai built by POW (Prisoners of War), very sad but interesting.
We also got to go elephant trekking which was so cool both sat on a chair on his back and getting to sit on his neck.. a little more unstable...
All in all a very good trip,
