Lake Titicaca was one of the places we were both looking forward to visiting most in South America, as it the highest lake in the world. We left La Paz early in the morning which wasnt great for either of us, as I was still feeling rough from the temperature I´d had the previous night and Em was now doing some serious moaning about stomach pains!

The bus ride was only 4 hours with some nice scenery along the way such as snow capped mountains and the locals going about their business in traditional bright clothing. At one point we had to cross the lake on a dodgy looking boat while the bus floated along next to us on an even worse looking barge. We arrived in Copacabana (not to be confused with the beach in Rio) expecting a lovely beach like resort on the edge of the lake, but were a bit disappointed by the tourist focussed scruffy town we found. Fortunately our hotel was nice and had great views out across the lake and the town below. We didnt have great weather while in Copacabana which I think had a big impact on our view of the place. Added to that Em only feeling better on the second day we were there, meant we didnt really do a lot. We did however take a boat out to the ´Isle de Sol´ which is supposedly where the Inca empire began and a very important place to the natives. Of course we saw absolutely no sun on the Sun island and only spent a short time there (just enough for me to annoy a local lady by using the outside toilet in her garden) then we had be back on the boat for our trip back.

Had we visited Copacabana when the sun was shining and we were both feeling fine i´m sure we would have had a great time there but as it was neither of us were particularly bothered when we boarded the night bus headed to Cusco in Peru!

Choosing dinner...
so which kitten did you eat? Not sure your caption goes with the picture! They do look warm in front of the heater.
