Turtle Island

So we survived our 4 hour journey with the screaming kids to Chumporn then boarded a boat that would take us to Koh Tao (Turtle Island) that is about 80km east of the mainland of Thailand. I took a sea sickness tablet and was out of it for about 4 hours which pissed Dave off as i made no sense at all!! Once we arrived at Koh Tao we we organised to do some scuba diving and got a lovely little beach shack right on the oceans edge. We then ventured out to do what we do best, eat. It didnt take us long to discover the cheapest but best place to eat in Koh Tao, Puk's Kitchen. We then explored the main town of this beautiful island for the rest of the day. That evening we went to the next town and enjoyed more great food in a restaurant that was right on the beach. We sat on the floor on Thai Axe pillows. These are the triangle pillows that you lean on with a little bit that folds out to lay on. We were definitely nice and relaxed by this stage. In the distance though we could see a storm brewing and headed home just in time for the rain to start pelting down. That night it was just a tiny bit noisy in our little seaside shack.
The next day we hired what looked like a mini dirtbike to go cruising around the island. The first beach we went to was supposed to be the best on the island. It was a beautiful beach but we had a little problem getting up and down the massive dirt track to and from the beach, well Dave did anyway. We managed to get up the massive hill then it was time to go for our diving course. As it has been years since we both had been diving we had to do a refresher course which brushed up our skills. Which was needed as we remembered not a whole lot!!! We then got to have 2 free dives with our instructor and it was amazing, we even got to see a turtle which topped it all off. We also saw Clown fish, Eels, Blue spotted sting Rays, angel fish, trigger fish (which like to attack people) and lots of other brightly coloured fish. After the dive we were then right to go diving when we liked again. That night, we went to the pub to watch England play in the soccer. No we remember why Australia doesnt like football, it is very boring. So we left the pub after half an hour of the match and went ot bed. The next day we had to get up early for more diving.
So the next day involved more diving and then an afternoon of just bathing on the beach and in the 32 degrees ocean. Not very cooling at all. Our final days and night involved just more relaxing, drinking and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Koh Tao. The next day we unfortunately had to leave this wonderful place and head back to not so wonderful Bangkok. It was a long journey back to Bangkok, made a whole lot longer by the fact that it was the King's 60th Anniversary and there were fireworks. It took the bus 2 hours to move about 7km because people just stopped there cars on the highway to watch the bloody fireworks. We eventually made it to the infamous Khao San Road where we retired in a little hidden guesthouse for the night. Our days in Bangkok involved a bit of movie watching and drinking in the bars of Khao San Road and eating some cheap noodles for the next 2 days. Oh and watching Australia kick Japans arse in the socer. Ah its a hard life travelling but someone has to do it!!!
After a couple of days in Bangkok it was time to farewell Asia and say Hello Europe.......
