Every morning I wake up with a thousand reasons to be thankful – a thousand and one when it’s sunny. I’m thankful to be alive and healthy. I’m thankful to trust and inspire trust in others. I’m thankful for happiness and for the bitterness that has made it so sweet. I’m thankful for lessons learned and lessons taught. I’m thankful for the beauty that surrounds me. I’m thankful for everyone and everything that fills my heart with more love everyday. Giving thanks is part of my daily ritual and Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

Thanksgiving is more than a celebration of thankfulness. It’s a celebration of gluttony, of good food and good company. Nothing brings me more pleasure than bringing friends and family together over a sumptuous meal that I’ve poured my love into. For this reason, I celebrate the fourth Thursday of every November no matter where I am in the world, be it on a Costa Rican beach or in the Namibian desert. So, even though turkey is unavailable in Turkey and cranberries can only be found in their dried form, I brought a few new friends together to share in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Foreign ingredients went into familiar dishes and the result was a great success. Everyone laughed as they ate to their heart’s content and well past their stomach’s limit. For that, I am thankful. And I’m thankful to all of you who take the time to follow my wonderings and words. You are never far from my heart, or my mind. Happy Thanksgiving!
