Today we caught the express train, in Air Con chair class from Delhi to Agra. Clare was impressed with the train service as only took 2 hours plus we had breakfast and drinks served too. This will probably be the poshest train journey we do on our whole trip so told Clare to make the most of it – haha. We left Delhi at 6.15am and arrived around 8.30am. We left our bags in the left luggage section of the train station and made our way out to face the tuk tuk drivers. Straight away two drivers pounced on us and started arguing amongst themselves on who was going to take us. We used this to our advantage as managed to barter the price down. Cost 80rs to get from the station to the Taj and we then paid 750rps (£10) to enter the area of where the Taj Mahal was. You walk through an arch gateway and you catch your first glimpse of the building. It looks like a postcard, the image of the Taj Mahal is so familiar you just cannot believe it when you see it. It really is beautiful, it is bright white/cream colour and set against the sky with nothing else in the background, just looks fantastic. We did the usual pose for pictures and then went inside. There is nothing really inside just empty rooms and what looks like a tomb so we were in and out. The most annoying thing whilst we were there is we are constantly being pestered for photos. Terry and I are used to this now but Clare found it highly entertaining and felt like a celebrity but the novelty soon wore off and began turning her fans down.
We then caught the bus, as the train was full, that afternoon to the city of Jaipur.
