I planned for a day at the beach today. With everyone working I was off on my own again today.
I woke up this morning grabbed a few apples and walked out the door. Of course I brushed my teeth, bathed, clothed myself and dropped the extra weight before heading out the door.
Again another beautiful day in Australia as I walked to the train station. I forgot to mention that being in Sydney almost feels like being in China. The first thing I noticed when I got out of the plane was a lot of Chinese people. And walking around Sydney's CBD (atul I defined this in a previous blog entry, ref. Sydney Day 1 blog entry), it is filled with Chinese people. So I wonder sometimes if I came to Sydney for vacation or China.
But once I took the train out of Sydney and then a bus to the beach I knew I was in Australia. As the sun's radiant rays stroked my face I walked along the beach admiring the blue ocean and the nice cozzies the aussie girls were wearing. (I just wanted to use aussie lingo.) I noticed that several restaurants along
the beach said B.Y.O, which means you can bring your own alcohol into the restaurants. Interesting...
After relaxing at the beach for a bit I decided to do the Eastern Coastal Walk. This walk was from Bondi Beach to Coogee beach and took about 2 hours. The walk was amazingly gorgeous and the terrain was ever changing. One minute I was walking along the beach with the warmed sand slowly engulfing my feet and the next I would be walking on an elevated wooden platform sturdily attached to the edge of a cliff. I walked across many beaches, bays, and coastal parks.
What was fascinating was the art that was displayed everyone. Individuals were on the beaches, parks, and cliffs putting their sculptures up. It was as if I was walking along an outdoor beach art gallery. And an active one at that as several artists were working hard to place new sculptures. I realized later there is an event in November for Art along the beach. But as I walked I saw giant sculptures made of metals and ceramics, a giant bottle with a message in it stranded on a cliff's edge, a putting green marked as
the 18th hole with waves crashing right behind it, a giant turtle made from old tires, and three guys trying to get their display set up as they placed two giant screws into the sand. I even saw someone working on building a giant log house on the beach.
Also what was really cool was that there were several public swimming pools right on the beach side where the waves would crash into the pool as people would swim. I love the idea of the beach swimming pools!!
My walk finally ended 2 and a half hours later at Coogee Beach where I was starving. I grabbed some fish and chips from a place on the beach called "chish and fips" and ate at the beach while hungry seagulls attempted to get closer to me without me noticing. Thankfully I had a small child playing nearby me who would chase them away. In fact one of the seagulls got close to her sand toys and she started crying and running over to the toys yelling "mine! mine! mine!" and chased after the seagull, of course after attempting to grab all 6 toys at once.
After the chish
and fips I grabbed a gelato and took a snooze at the beach and read a little of my book. (yea read... I know that must surprise a lot of you!)
Headed back to Darling Harbor via bus and train and grabbed some brews for the Barbie.
For dinner we barbequed some lamb, spicy sausages and onions/mushrooms. Definitely grubbed down good after all that walking today.
All in all another great day in Sydney. Tomorrow is the big and final day!

Looks like you are having a great time. Loved the "baby and seagull" story. :-)) The beaches look like the beaches of Big Sur...
