Well this has been a bit of a rough week for me. I couldn't stay in Auckland for my final weekend in NZ because of the rugby world cup final games. Originally Pete and I planned to go to Rotorua for the weekend which would have worked out perfect as it was also a long weekend in NZ. But, apparently it being my final weekend in NZ didn't meant much to a certain kiwi and I was told to go alone.

So, with sadness, hurt and a bit of a broken heart the relationship and friendship I had with Pete has come to an unhappy end. I wish things had ended differently but things happen. And no, it wasn't just because he suddenly decided he didn't want to spend my last weekend with me, it was several things.

Anyways, I picked myself back up and continued on. I caught a bus down to Rotorua on Friday morning and was there by lunch time. I checked into my hostel and then headed off into the center. I forgot how much I loved Rotorua the first time I was here 2 years ago. Not too much has changed, a few things.

I spent most of the weekend watching the bronze medal game with Australia beating Wales. I did some souvenir shopping and on Saturday there was a market set up down by Lake Rotorua. I also spent a good 5 hours soaking away all my troubles at the Polynesian spa. It's natural thermal hot pools that reak of rotten eggs because of all the sulphur. They are meant to have healing powers. On Sunday I headed over to the fanzone set up here in the Events center.

There was some entertainment to keep us all occupied while we waited for the kickoff. A few musical acts and a really cool laser show. I was asked to sit with a family who were really nice.

The haka to start the game was amazing and France walked up to challenge the haka which was a big move and everyone loved it. Right from the kick off this was a stressful nervous game to watch! I'm happy to report that the All Blacks won by a score of 8-7. What a game!

Everyone was celebrating like crazy after the win and there was cars honking down the streets for an hour after the game had ended. I unfortunately had to be up early to catch my bus back to Auckland so I headed to bed around midnight.

If it couldn't be Canada the i'm happy it was the All Blacks to win.

Congratulations All Blacks, Rugby World Cup Champions 2011!!!!

I love Maori art. Yes Rotorua is a scenic spot. Glad you had a good weekend there...the spa you forgot to mention. The laser show looked amazing.
