Ilderton, ON
Stopped by parade! We had to take a detour today because of construction, and ended up passing through a small town called Ilderton, just north of London, Ontario. All highways pass through the centre of small towns, and today was their fall fair complete with parade down Main Street. No signs were posted saying Main Street was closed, so we got stopped by a policeman who says "where do you think YOU'RE going". So, we had to wait out the parade, which was about 1/2 hour, but at least we had a great view! Then we got to follow the last participant (which is ALWAYS the firetruck, sirens blaring), and escorted by the police car, sirens blaring, with Sparky, Fire Department Mascot running along side. Everyone was waving at us, so we had to wave back. Lots of cat calling - "nice motorhome!", "So, you'd rather be curling in Saskatchewan, huh?" (stupid license plate), "where's the candy?" (I was tempted to throw tomatoes, crackers, whatever I could find), "blow your horn!" (Gerry obliged). It was hilarious! We must have giggled for 1/2 hour over this one!
