Hi Everyone

Well Sean arrived after a gruelling flight in Economy (I did try to convince him to upgrade!) and due to his plane arriving late in London, missed his connecting flight to Paris (typical Qantas). He managed to get the next flight so I only waited at the airport for 4 hours. We negotiated the Metro back to the hotel very easily - it seems so much easier with 2 people looking out for signs. Sean was surprised how densely populated Paris is and I was surprised at Sean's stamina in only having 3 hours sleep in 45 hours and still wanting to walk around.

On Sunday we went to the Louvre. That place is just incredible - walked for 5 hours and still only saw about a third of the displays. I managed to find the one thing I wanted to see - a cup given to Louis VI by Eleanor of Aquitane back in the 1100’s. I forgot to take the camera so took pictures on my Iphone. I will try and put some on here.

On Monday it was our wedding anniversary and we went to the horrendously expensive Jules Verne restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower. Sean enjoyed his meal, but I wasn’t overly impressed. Entrée I rated 5/10, Main Meal 6/10 and Dessert 7/10. The best way I can describe the restaurant is catering for tourists in an upmarket setting which comes across a bit tacky. You are really paying for the view and the experience, and I am glad we did it.

Today (Tuesday) we picked up the car from the airport - bloody GPS was so quiet we had trouble working out where to go trying to leave Paris. I wasn’t game enough to adjust the settings in case I lost the map view but after a few stressful moments and a few wrong turns on a Paris motorway, (as well as missing the petrol station at the Airport) we found ourselves heading out of Paris, found a servo and stopped and played for half an hour and turned up the GPS very loudly. We then headed in a slightly unplanned route to Monet’s Garden in Giverney. Quite pretty (see photos). Mum, you would love to see this place.

We then headed to our B & B in a tiny village called St Louet sur Vire. This B&B is called La Thiaumerie and is very nice, run by a lovely English couple. I will take some photos in the next few days.

Over the next few days we are going to visit Mont St Michel, Bayeaux and Honfleur before heading off to the Somme. So I will post stories and pictures next on Thursday evening (Friday in Australia).

Ciao (a bit of Italian there for Ethan - the French actually say Ciao a lot).

Snobby Restaurants
Typical snobby restaurants - didn't look all that appealing to me plus I bet it cost a fortune - give me sizzler's anyday.... Hope you are having a great time.
