Today was a free day but Leona gave us the option of Derek dropping us off early at the Lourve so we could beat the crowd. The tickets to get in were only 10euro and the line wasn't too long especially seems Mary and I found some Contiki people to jump in the line with. We went through security and then got our map to decide where to go. First stop: The Mona Lisa.
We found a few other bits anz pieces on the way but this really was the only reason mary and I came in. We arn't big art buffs so we're too interested but we couldn't come and not see the Mona Lisa. It was kinda cool, but we could have been looking at a poster and couldnt tell the difference. It was very small.
We walked around for a while longer before we headed out to see some other bits and pieces before heading on the metro to meet up with Matt and Della, Chris and Jim and Dennis and Jo (all from Melbourne) for lunch at a little restaurant that Leona had recommended near Notre Dame.
The restaurant was amazing. The food was delishious and was 24euro for 3 courses. Here is where we tried snails. Blahhhhh vomit. They were gross. I think more so it was the texture i couldn't handle then the taste. I struggled to swallow it but did with the help of some pastry. I had an entree of Goats cheese in pastry, a main of curry chicken noodles and a macaroon with icecream for desert. We could barely walk after the meal. It was so filling but the food was too good not to eat.
After lunch Mary and I hopped back on the metro with Jo and Dennis and Della and Matt and headed for the shops as we had a very dressed up night tonight and all our stuff had been worn several times over. We went into Zara, and H&M and a few other boutiques but i found an absolutely stunning dress in H&M that i bought, only 40euro. Thank goodness, something new and pretty to wear. Mary couldnt find a dress so decided on a skirt and was going to wear one of my tops.
We caught the metro back to the hotel and made it back there with probably an hour and a half to get ready to head out. It was hard, we had to shower and everything then went to do out hair and there was no powerpoint near a mirror so the hair was done blindly but turned out pretty good anyway. People need to rethink the planning of these hotel rooms better.
We jumped on the bus and headed for the read light district to a place called O'Sullivans which is right next door to the Moulin Rouge. The Moulin Rouge was not what i expected. I think the movie gave me high expectations but it was just this tiny little building but it was still very cool to see.
We had a pre drink at O'Sullivans before heading down the road to a place for a caberet show which is where we were also having dinner.
Dinner was nice enough, nothing special. The show on the otherhand, wow. There was Can Can dancers, magicians and all sorts of things. I did have a slight issue and that was that for some reason alot of the time the girls had no tops on. It was quite strange how often their boobs were right out there. The boys loved it, the girls were just like "why?". We had unlimeted wine included in dinner so some hit it pretty hard.
After dinner and the show we headed back to O'Sullivans for farewell drinks as half the group was leaving tomorrow to head back to London to finish the tour. A good percetage of us had decided to stay in Paris a few extra days instead of doing that.
The night got messy, people got drunk, sad, happy, and everything inbetween. There was glass everywhere so feet were cut but all in all it didnt matter because it was our last night of tour, and for some, the last time we'd probably see these people that we'd gotten so close to over the past 16 days.
We finished up there at just after 3:00am when everyone stragely decided to leave together.
We hoped in cabs back to the hotel where there would be very little sleep got before the people leaving had to be up and ready to leave by 8:00am.
Good times with super amazing, fantastic people.
