A Rest Day
Didn’t sleep the greatest last night. All the animals living in and around the pond kept me up. First it was a moose crossing the marsh at the far end. Clomp, clomp, clomp for a good half hour and then it was the busy beavers that were busy doing something that required splashing.
Most of the day was spent at the computer working on the blog. It is amazing how much time it take to maintain this thing. The biggest headaches are uploading the pictures. The software will upload each picture 2, 3 0r 4 times and then I have to manually delete the extras not to mention decifer between the different pictures to figure out which one are extras. This is hard because the pictures are like thumbnail pics and I am using a mini laptop screen.

Muncho Lake Provincial Park
Strangely I got a late start. I am riding through Muncho Park and landscape is truly unbelievable. My progress is very slow due to photo taking. My plan is to get to Liard Hot Spring Park 120 km’s away.
When I got
to lake it’s self there was a very strong wind off the lake. Later in the evening I must have been in the zone as I was able to make up for my lost time. Being in the valley and not having any big climbs was definitely to my benefit.
Getting close to my destination I came across a herd of bison on the road. At first they had no interest in moving. But after a whole lot of yelling I was able to herd them off the road. But as the last ones were leaving the road they had started running at full speed alongside of the road. It was all I could do to try to keep up with them. I had to keep up with them and pass them before they would decide they were tired and get back on the road. I was like a cowboy on a bike. Me and the bison racing down the highway. I had them running in front of me, alongside me and behind me. I wish I had a head cam for all these different interaction with the bison. Shortly after a bear crossed the road.
Coming to
Muncho Lake Provincial Park
If you could see how blue the rivers are it would blow you away. the park there was a bear and a lone bison on the left side of the road and on the right was a momma bear with 3 cubs. The campground was full but they were starting an overflow for campers in the parking lot to the trail to the hot springs. Which worked out great because the spring would be a closer walk and the camp workers didn’t seem interested in collecting any money for the night.
It was late in the evening as I set up camp and some guy from Vegas had a million questions for me. This is pretty much par for the course no matter where I am. I camped beside some bikers form Grande Prairie who would share a beer and some homemade moose sausage with me be the end of the night.
I can’t imagine what time it was when I finally headed to the hot spring for my bath. I have never been to a hot spring before; it was dark and had no idea what I was in for. The water was scalding hot. It took forever to be able to submerge my hands. It was real cold out and
my body was reacting to the “hotness”. What a completely strange feeling to be in a hot bath in the middle of the wilderness in the middle of the night.
Because the temperature was so cold out before I got in the water I thought I would freeze when I got out. Strangely I was warm and warm the whole night long.
