It seems like it was a long time coming, but when we crossed the border into Alberta today, boy did it feel good. It was a great year in Quebec, but by this point we were all very excited to be home. Claude has been saying that he could smell home since we crossed into the prairies and today we finally made it home! It is funny but when you have been gone so long, it really seemed great to catch the first glimpse of Edmonton as we approached.

We had left last year with our last dinner being with family at the Asian Village on the west end. Our favorite Indian restaurant. Claude had been craving their food since we left so we detoured on our way through Edmonton to have dinner there today before we headed for home. It was as good as we remembered it.

We got home around 7 pm. The boys were so excited to see the place and revisit all their toys. Marc came out of his room with a Rescue Hero in each hand and declared “It’s great to be home – OUR HOME!” I would have to agree.

A sad note to the end of our trip is that unfortunately our cat Jasper disappeared a couple of days before we got home. We assume that a wild animal must have got him. Paul had been waiting so long to see his cat that we were very worried about how he would take it. He is sad, but seems to be dealing with the loss pretty well. Better than I expected. I guess having all the other “new” things to re-visit in the house helps. We have our fingers crossed that he may still appear but I think our chances are small.

I will still have to do a couple more blog entries for the last 2 weeks of our trip (keep your eyes out), but wanted to post our final day.

Welcome Home!
Welcome home! I bet the kids are happy to see their cousins again. My deepest sympathy on losing Jasper - especially at the last minute. Cats do go into hiding if the end is near and Jasper was old was he not? Misha is 17 and keeps hanging on but I don't give her a year. It's been a while since I emailed Brent regarding a cousin get together and the summer is almost done. He seemed conducive to the idea in a cautious kind of way. Maybe we will all be there for Chris and Erin's wedding in September. See you all soon, Lori.
